A shed kit makes it easy to plan and build your own garden shed.

Building your own garden shed is a great DIY project for anyone with a few basic carpentry skills. However if you’ve never built anything before in your life, and you’re a little nervous about the idea of building a shed from scratch, using a shed kit is a great idea. A shed kit comes with all of the materials already measured, cut and drilled, so all you have to do is put it all together.

With most kits, everything you need to build the shed is provided, so you won’t require any additional tools. The kit will come with complete instructions, plans and diagrams. Some storage shed kits even come with a video guide to show you exactly how the whole assembly process works. In most cases, you’ll only need about a day, or perhaps a weekend to put the shed together, depend on how many willing helpers you have at hand.

You’ll find kits for all kinds of storage sheds, including small potting sheds, playhouses for the kids, right up to luxurious pool cabanas and even small barns. You’ll find more information about all the great shed construction products which are available simply by following the links from this site.

Before you begin assembling your new shed.

Before you purchase your garden shed kit, make sure that the shed you’re planning to build complies with any local building codes which may be relevant, even if it’s only a small shed. You may even need formal planning permission from your local authorities, so it’s essential that you check the regulations carefully.

Your local planning authorities may require you to first construct a concrete slab foundation. Otherwise, you can buy a foundation kit for your shed. The kit will include a steel frame base, which can be filled with concrete or covered with a sheet of water resistant timber or chipboard. You then erect the steel frame of the shed on top of the foundation, attach the cladding, and begin using your fantastic new garden shed.
