Different Greenhouses

There are many words that you may not be familiar with when you are researching greenhouses. A few of these definitions will be explained a little more in depth here. Review these types of greenhouses if you are just beginning to start your search for a greenhouse or if you are looking to purchase a second greenhouse for your gardening hobby.

A freestanding greenhouse is a greenhouse that stands alone in your yard or garden area similar to a shed would. If you are considering a freestanding greenhouse, pick a location that is not in your prized view, or in your neighbors’ best view.

A lean to greenhouse is a greenhouse that is either attached to your home or garage. This lean to greenhouse is often just three walls and a roof, with the remaining wall being the building that it is connected to.

An even span greenhouse is a greenhouse that is a traditional style that maximizes the space and the use of heat through out the greenhouse. Keeping walls similar lengths, and a lowered roof design keeps the maximizing of the heat and space under control in your greenhouse.

The arched greenhouse is a greenhouse that has smooth walls at the base, but then they curved up towards a ridge at the top of the walls. This type of greenhouse is most commonly selected for a homeowner that also has arches in the design of their home.

A Dutch greenhouse design is a greenhouse that uses an even span roof, but also uses sloping walls. This type of greenhouse lets a great amount of light in to the greenhouse but also gives you unusable space in rounded spaces where you cannot get to use fully.

You can get any style and size greenhouse you want. You can even order a custom designed greenhouse, but they are quit expensive. It is my recommendation that you choose a greenhouse style that utilizes your space best, while not compromising heat or light in the greenhouse.
